The Indica vs. Sativa Myth

A Classification Crisis
Walk into any dispensary, and you'll see the menu divided into three holy categories: Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid. But from a scientific perspective, these labels recount the plant's morphology (shape), not necessarily its effects.
The Traditional View
- Indica: Short, broad leaves. Believed to be sedating ("In-da-couch").
- Sativa: Tall, narrow leaves. Believed to be energizing / cerebral.
The Reality: It's All Chemotypes
Modern cannabis has been cross-bred for decades. Almost everything is a hybrid. The effect is determined by the Entourage Effectβthe synergy between cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBG) and terpenes.
"You can have a Sativa-dominant plant structure that has a sedating terpene profile."
What Should You Look For?
Instead of relying solely on the I/S/H labels, ask for the terpene profile.
- Looking for energy? Ask for Limonene or Pinene.
- Looking for sleep? Ask for Myrcene or Linalool.
JointSesh lets you tag strains with your actual experience (e.g., "Relaxed", "Energetic") rather than just what the label says.
